Hi, hosts! Thanks for having me in your game...it's my first one since coming out of ORG semi-retirement. I'll tell you what - that feeling of starting a brand new game has definitely already kicked in. I've been lucky enough to have gone pretty far (F2/F3 or at least F5 usually) in most of the ORGs I've played and it's been through active playing and not just existing in the game because I've been a borewhore and more active players were targeted. That said, when I play, I end up putting a lot of effort into talking to castmates, playing the game, and competing in competitions - which is fun at the time. But I always forget that when I very first start a game, it's always so overwhelming/exhausting to work on getting to know as many people as I can without coming off as a threat/busybody while not having any security in alliances or challenge victories. Usually, after things are settled and I have a few solid alliances, I'm more relaxed about the game...I just need to get past the "holy crap, I'm doing this whole process again!" phase. But I can do it. I'm determined to make this game my bitch and win.
So, I've had the chance to talk to Dino, Jessica, Dana, Dan, and Joshuah so far, and here are my notes/thoughts on each so far:
Dino: Lives outside Orlando, FL. Currently watching LOST for the first time. Loves Dayton and Universal Studios / roller coaster. We have an agreement to watch each others backs. I feel generally comfortable with him, though I have a weird suspicion that he might be a super gamer.
Jessica: Also from right outside of Orland, FL (odd). Seems bubbly enough. Bonded over Full House. High school student who wants to get into UF. Average SAT scores. Wants to go into political journalism, but her parents want her to go into medicine. Admits to only having talked to me, Lori and Dino so far.
Dana: Not a math/science person. Also in high school? Is obsessed with Hello Kitty. Mormon. I made a Mormon joke before realizing she was a Mormon, so now I've told her she's my Mormon guide and has to teach me about Mormonism. (Maybe I'll pretend to convert to get her on my side?) Hated China Todd / loved China Leslie. Gave me a Bible verse of the day: "Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." - Joshua 1:9. We agreed to watch out for each other and I tried to keep it on the down low, but she seemed less concerned about keeping things a secret. Strikes me as someone who overplays their hand quickly - I don't really trust her and if I could get her out early, I probably would.
Dan: Studying business in college. Good at not giving away much information about himself - clearly not a novice at ORGs. Wants to run a golf course. Seems pleasant enough. Keeps the conversation going more or less but doesn't say much.
Joshuah: Nurse from Ohio. Not very talkative.
Basically, I need to watch out for any Jessica/Dino alliances, especially since they seem to be online a lot at the same times.
As for the Haves/Have Nots challenge, I have no clue what to do. Half the cast hasn't even been online when I have, so I don't know them. Ideally, we'd get a group of people together and all put the same answers, but that'd make us targets early on. I think I'll just put random answers and let things play out as they will. For the HOH challenge, I guess we have to read up on BBStorm and maybe it'll be trivia about that season? If I have time, maybe I'll read up on it but I don't want to be the first HOH. I like letting some overzealous player get that and then make enemies right from the start. For now, I'm starting the game in Sandra Diaz-Twine "as long as it ain't me" mode.
